Refinance Signing Checklist for Borrowers

Refinance packages move fast and contain dozens of documents. Use this checklist to prepare and avoid delays.

A refinance signing can involve many documents. Being prepared helps the appointment move faster and reduces the chance of delays.

Before the appointment: confirm the appointment time, verify the signing location, review lender instructions, prepare a valid government-issued ID, ask about any funds due at signing, and make sure all required signers will be present.

During the signing: follow the notary's instructions, sign exactly as your name is printed on the documents, initial where indicated, do not leave blanks unless instructed, and ask the lender or title company any questions about loan terms.

After the signing: the notary returns the package to the lender or title company, the file is reviewed, and funding occurs after any required rescission or review period.
